In 91 they were still fighting the emissions war with the EPA. these cars were built to run hot. (not that that is a good thing) But Thermostats can wear faster on hotter engines.

I would recomend replacing the thermostat and thermostat gasket. 30-40 buck and your back on the road in 2 or so hours. If that don't work at least its eliminated.

30 - 40 dollars?? I bought mine for I think under $5.

Yeah, OK. I didn't consider labor. It's so easy I'd say 15-20 minutes.
