85 z28 questions
 

I have a 85 z28 automatic tranny 350engine.I just got itready for the road,I took her out ,and she chirps the tires when she hits second gear.She revs high and then bam 2nd gear,just not as smooth as the other gears.What would cause that? Also she shifts in all gears at about 5500 rpms,if i am giving it more than a quarter of the pedal.Everything else seems fine no slip or anything,could it be a shift kit?
Also I was wondering what the oil pressure should be.it sits about 20-25 at idle Then goes to the 40s when driving.
and the last question.I was underneath the rear end fixing a loose shock,and I noticed a line coming from the shock,and another from the other one.They went to a T,and had a valve stem.
This didnt come with air shocks did it?,and if not ,why would someone install them? The shocks are hella stiff front and rear.Too stiff I feel everything ,and im worried its gonna rattle the front end apart.If anyone has suggestions on some reasonably priced struts and shocks let me know

That's a pretty nice car you have there!

As far as chirping the tires, that's called power! If you floor it your tranny is going to shift later in the RPM band, when you hit the next gear you car apparently has enough torque to break the tires loose. You don't do it in 3rd because the motor doesn't have enough torque to overcome the gearing in the transmission, so don't worry about that, just don't floor it everhwere you go!

As far as the oil psi, I'm no expert on 3rd gens by any means, but that sounds about right for general applications. If I recall that's about where my LT1 sits.

thanks.$500.00 with a 350 shes bad ***!! the thing is im not flooring it ,not even close,but your probably rightit has alot of balls.

Well if you're not really in the pedal it shoudln't rev to redline before it shifts, you may have a valve body problem. There are people on the boards that know much more info on the internal workings of an auto transmission than me, I'll let them take it from here...[&:]
