IT IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys are fricking AWESOME! I went home and turned the oil pump shaft so the distributer would fit where it needed to.At first I was 180 out, but the second try, it fired right away! You guys have been so helpful!! I will take a video of it tonight! It sounds like a dragstrip car! I need to get a piece of pipe and remove the cat. It already has been hollowed out, but the connection is weak!! This thing has so much power it is unbelieveable!!!! I will post a vid tomorrow if I can figure out how!!

RE: 305 to 350 disributer, ignition prob
Ok, so I finally got to drive my beast up the road yesterday. I have three problems. First, anyone know anything about exhaust manifolds... DO some discharge in different places than others? My prob is the dipstick tube is supposed to go where my manifold discharges, back by number 7 . Can I buy a different manifold that discharges a lil closer to number 1 cylinder? Second... My carb is great till I hit about 2k rpm... Then it pops really loud. Is it not getting enough fuel, or too much, or is my vacuum advance on my dizzy not working, and how do I tell? Third... I have a moderate ticking coming from the driverside valve cover area. Is this as simple as thghtening the valve? or is there more to it than that??

never seen a dipstick that far back, they are usaully around #5 or#6.check your float levels, pull the vacuum line off the carb, that goes to the advance and suck on it to make sure the advance is working.make sure all the exhaust bolts are tight, the ticking your hearing could be a leak.is this cam hydraulic

Maybe it is closer to number five, but still my issue is the exhaust manifold discharges right where the oil dipstick tube. When I suck on the vacuum line for the dizzy, should the car be running? How do I know if the cam is hydraulic?

test the advance with the motor off so you can hear the advance working.suck on it and stick you tongue over the vacuum line, then take your tongue off the line, you should be able to hear it release,if not ,take the cap off,do the same thing and watch it move.sounds kind of bad telling you to suck it and stick your tongue on it but thats how you check it(lol).if you have a hyd.cam,i would take the vlv.cover off, start the motor and find the rocker that is making the noise and tighten it untill it stops then make a another 1/4 turn.you got to do this pretty quick because the oil will be pumping and start running down the exhaust.dont get scared, you usaully have enough time to do all eight.
