I have a 2000 z28 that I bought about a month ago. Friday night we were driving home from out of town and the alternator went out which drained the battery and we were stuck. Changed the alt and battery out (battery wouldn't hold a charge at all.) The alternator never charged the battery above 10ish while driving, it just kept it steady there. We got home and everything died again. Any ideas as to what is causing this/what I can check? I've checked all the fuses that I can as a last resort kind of thing and they are all fine.

[&:] your gonna need some way of checking voltages, a good/new battery should have and hold a minimum of 12 volts the alternator should be able to produce around 14.5 volts. ive seen alot of problems with exide/sears batteries over the years( yes brand new ones) i havent seen underhood of a 2000 model but my 95 has a nice cluster of fusible links near the battery( id check these as it sounds like your return trip was on the battery) let us know what you find kurt
