1980 engine ?

Just purchased 80 Z-28/w-T-tops very original all the #s match so far. from the research i have done one thing i'm not sure of. The block casting # is 14010207 which should be 190HP? The other #'s are T1002CHA (LM-1 ?) and 1AL54974 which matches the car VIN. So my question is the VIN on the car has an L which should mean the car was built in VanNuys CA. From what i have looked up the cars built in CA were only rated at 165HP. So what's the deal do I have the wrong info or did they detune the engines? Maybe I have no Idea what i'm doing!!!!!!! Any help would be great. I havent checked the tranny #'s but from every thing else on the car it's probably original. Not to bad of a car, I cant find 1 thing that has been altered which these days is hard to find.

RE: 1980 engine ?

I am guessing that they detuned the engine to deal with the california emissions. Keep checking the internet. Good luck and tell us the outcome.

Nasty Z28 states that it was detuned for California Emissions.
