LT1 faster off the line than Ls1?

is this true? i've seen some vids in the past and was like "hum" and today i was on a road and this ls1 pulled up (it was most deff an auto) he popped his car in neutral or park and started reving and i did the same and on green we both went and since the road narrowed down to 1 lane at the other end of the intersection it wasnt a like 1/4 mile dash or anything but for that distance i had him. so is this a matter of ls1 v lt1 or light mods v no mods? or even M6 v A4 ?

or the most important one, (which i think was the real reason why i took him) red v blue? :D

i have no doubt that if he didnt have to get behind me though and the stretch was longer he would have caught up and taken me though.

THe TQ peak is lower in a LT1. This leads some people to think they are faster off the line. IMO it really comes down to the driver, either car is capible of roasting the tires.

this is generally true of all cars. alot of people talk about "well, im faster off the line" but in all honesty the "off the line" section of a race is only about 1 second and then you are in ur power band and you have about 4-5 gears of powerband left to settle the race. even v6 mustangs can hit 2.0 60's

It's more than likely the fact he didn't stall(power brake) his RPMs... Getting off the line always reverts to your suspension... How well can your car hold on to that power and in which direction is the force going. Off the line, the LS1 will, in most cases, be a slight bit quicker because the suspension is better and it weighs about 200 pounds(Estimate) less than the LT1 cars.

Like JD said the LT1's reach their peak TQ faster than LS engines which I believe is 325 @ 2400 rpm as compared to the LS1 which is 335 @ 4000 rpm if I remember right. Correct me if I'm wrong but that would be a good indication of why LT1's can get a step ahead from a dig. The only two LS1's I went up against were from a roll and I didn't fare as well as I would have liked to.

like kal said its all in the suspension at that point. if your car has enough power to turn over the wheels it doesnt really matter. even v6 mustangs expect 2.0 60' times.

also, all ls1s make 350 peak tq, and looking at how nice and ridiculously flat my torque band is on my dyno I dont think i was much below that the whole time. actually, at 2600rpm i was making 290rwtq which is 341btq, the only reason I dont have lower rpm is because we started the dyno from 2500rpm

You're all missing the most important factor!

Chevy made two engines with hardcore BA torque curves. [8D]

Like JD said and again im speaking from less than 65 hours of track time...(impressive right)....but from what ive seen a LS1 driven well can come off the line just as fast or faster as any LT1
