RE: how much faster?
Well you've picked a pretty big spread in years here. Lets start with the 96 Mustang GT, this was the first year for the 4.6 modular engine, unfortunatly it was also one the slowest GT's ever made (97 and 98 cars were basicly the same). In 99 the GT got a better sdet of heads (known as PI heads) and performance got quite a bit better (99 GT's run low 14's stock and the 96-98's are very high 14's to low 15's). Now for the Camaros. 93-97 were the LT1 years, and they were good performers with an average 1/4 mile time in the low 14's. In 98 the Camaro got the LS1, which was a huge boost in performance. 1/4 mile times now dropped to low 13's with a 12.8 or 9 being run on the rare occasion. Hope this helps.
