Default What Type Of Engine?

I just bought an '81 camaro a couple weeks ago. the guy said the guy he bought it from rebuilt the engine in i beleive 04 before he had bought it and that its a chevy 350 with a holley 4 barrel and that he replaced the rear end recently because he had been having troubles with the transmission, but the engine only has about 15,000 miles on it. idk if this is exactly true or not, the odometer reads i believe 14,820 or around that and ive driven about 100 miles or so since ive bought it, but besides that what i really need to figure out cause nobody ive talked to seems to know exactly if any of you guys could help me out with this at all i have some pics of it the best i could really get and i really only kno the general stuff about engines and cant really tell the exact kind of motor it is or might be. any help will be greatly appreciated thanks alot in advanced.

The only REAL way to see what you have is to find the casting #'s on the block, casting #'s on the heads help out too when trying to find out what kind of power you are making.

you will never know the true mileage. If its as fresh as he says it is, a way to really check is either to pull off one of the heads and look down into the cylinder walls for scoring marks. Or pulling off the pan and checking the bearing clearence. This all being a lot of work depends on how much $$$ you spent.

most of the time you will have to pull off the alternator in order to see the numbers, but it will be on the right hand side of the block
