Well, after toying with the idea of rebuilding the 305 in an 86 Camaro, I have decided against that, and figure that if I am going to do a project car, it needs to have a serious engine.

After speaking to various people, including a couple of engine builders, here is what I have planned:

*Dart Little M 400ci cast iron block, 4.155" bore, 4 bolt splayed billet caps
*Callies 3.75" Forged Crank
*Eagle/Scat 5.7" H Beam rods
*SRP -16cc forged pistons
*Dart Iron Eagle Platinum 230cc iron heads - 300cfm @.600 lift
*Twin GT3582 turbos with .82 rear housing
*Solid Roller cam - 245deg, .624" lift, 114 LSA
*Intercooled
*Fuel Injected

Now after playing with an dyno program and consulting a few engine builders, the rough power estimates are around 1220hp and 800ft/lb at the engine on 25psi (or ~1000rwhp) - good enough for mid 8s in a full weight 3rd Gen Camaro.

The car will be both a street car and race car - built to be drivable for a Sunday cruise (on lower boost of course), but tough enough to hold its own on the drag strip or dyno comp, maybe even the odd burnout comp or circuit racing track day.

Now, I would be interested to hear any advice or opinions with this combo. The more homework I do, the more likely that the combination will turn out successful.

I would also be interested to hear from anyone who has built similar engines - what parts they used, power, times etc.
