Default tranny problem

ok so i got my 99 SS (6 speed) on the road today. i love it the only problem is the first time i shifted hard into 2nd it grinded like a mother-******. it keeps doing it even at like 3000 rpms. im sure its the synchros cuz every other gear is solid. the car has 68,xxx miles on it. what im wondering is how hard is it to pull the tranny on this car i heard its only like 4 bolts. anyways ive rebuilt trannys b4 on a bench never taken them out of a car and i work at a ford dealer so noone there is farmiliar with them. do i have to mess with the clutch after when removing and reinstalling it? and how much and where can i get what i need to fix it? any advice would be awesome. if i end up getting it professionaly done what am i looking to pay. i know a guy who owns a shop and all he does are f-bodies he said 500-1500 thats just asking about it without looking. is that waht id expect to pay?

According to All-Data : 3.2hr to replace, 9.8hr to rebuild. At $80/hr = $1040 labor + parts.

I think there are 6 bolts that hold the trans to the bell housing and then there is X member bolts, etc. Pulling the trans is no biggie.
