tranny mount
I have a 96 Camaro auto. with the 3.8 and when I was putting on my Magnaflow exhaust back in August I noticed that the rubber mount was dry rotted and looked like it was falling apart. So when I was up at Auto Zone yesterday I actually remembered that it was bad and so I bought a new one for $47. Now my only question is how hard are these to replace?Itlooks as though itwould be an easy fix but after doing work on my front brakes a few months back I realized how complicated some simple things can turn out to be. So I just need to know if it's a one man job that can be done in a half hour? Also will I need to jack up the tail end of the tranny at all, I mean just like an inch or so to make removing the old mount and putting the new one on easier?

RE: tranny mount
Thats what I was talking to the Auto Zone salesmen about. I asked him why a piece of rubber is almost $50 and he told me that it was some "hydralic oem replacement tranny mount". Whatever that means, he was reading it from a computer screen so I don't even think he knew what he was talking about. All well.

RE: tranny mount
I put the new mount in today and it went well. The only problem I had was that there wan't really any spot on the tail of the tranny to put a jack under it. So I instead just put the jack under the tranny fluid pan but I put a wood block between the two so that it didn't punch a hole through the bottom. The car shifts a lot more solidly now and I actually got my tires to brake loose off a stop light. Thats a big accomplishment for a high mi. V6, auto., and that needs a tune really bad. Now to find a Z28 posi. rear end that I can put in this to make it a bit funner to drive.
