Default thumpr cam?

i have an 81 Z28 with a 400 out of a 74 chevelle in it. the motor is stock internally i put a voodoo cam in it i had laying around don't remember exact lift off my head i believe it was 468/489. well the cam just doesn't sound good at all almost same as before but the power was a little better. i was thinking about installing a comp thumpr in it instead. i know the sound will be better but will i gain power too?

The thumprs are great at what they do - make your idle very aggressive. And while it'll also add some ponies, you could get a custom grind for a similar cost matched to your exact setup. If you tell them you want an idle like the thumprs, they can do that for you. But if it's also matched to your setup, you'll get the best of both worlds - sound and power.

I hope this makes sense, I'm really sick right now and probably shouldn't even be using the computer.
