my camaro is running to rich i think how should i go about leaning it out some?

 

the carb is a 750 holley

 

Check that the choke is fully open, check that the flat is set right and that the needle valve is not leaking, check the fuel pressure. if all OK put in smaller jets and power valve. What makes you think it is running rich? Sick may be able to shed more light on this, you may want to send him a PM.

 

i think it is running to rich because there is a real strong gas smell out the exhaust, like more then it should smell

 

if this is an all of a sudden thing you probably have a blown power valve. you can pull the front bowl then remove the bowl housing. the power valve is threaded into the internal side of the housing. the best way to check it is to let all the gas dry then. pop it in your mouth and suck on it LMAO. seriously you put your lips on it and try and create a vacuum. if you can't it's blown and is leaking gas into the engine. blown power valve is most evident by an overly rich idle. if it isn't the power valve your gonna need a vacuum guage. does your 750 have four corner idle adjustment? this is evident by idle mixture screws on the front and rear of the carb. sick

 

it could be oil, because i just notice its using oil does this mean i need a rebuild? if so should i just go 383 or stay at a 355? if it is just running to rich could my timing be off?

 

holley carbs are notorius about blowing power valves. it's no biggy ... takes about 30 minutes to change. a vacuum leak could also cause the power valve to open prematurely and make it run rich. are you sure it's using oil and not leaking? if it's using oil it's either worn out rings or valve seals. rings takes a rebuild ... valve seals can be replaced without removing the heads with the right tools. sick

ok i got the power valve in no its loadin up with gas alot (to rich still? but the smell is gone) which screw do i use to adjust the air fuel mixture, the one thats on the same side as the idle screw or the one on the opposite side or both??

 

its like when i give it gas there is a major hesition amost stalling
