Default quick question

I dont want to sound like a dumbass whos asking poeple hwat they think his horsepower and torque is, but im a little frustrated. i mean i was talkin to my old man about my motor, and asked what he thought it was pushing for horsepower. he predicted about 275-300. those are decent numbers, but i looked at the stock 350's that came out in 1976, and they were all around 260 horsepower. ide figure i jsut list engine parts now and see what your predictions are. as for how the car runs, it has no problem spinning tire. it will wind all the way to 6000 rpm spinning tire, which having 11.6 inch wide back tires, i dont see a 265 horsepower v8 doing that. the cars bottom end torque is a little soggy, but when it hits 3000 rpm it really takes off. heres a list of parts installed so far.

-bored .030 over/rebuilt
-iron heads 2.02 intake 1.60 exhaust
-70cc combustion chambers, 8.5-9.0 compression
-comp cams hi-tech mechanicle 250/260 .532/.555 lift
-magnum pushrods and 1.52 roller tip rockers
-weiand x-celerator high rise single plane.
-650cfm barry grant coming soon.
-1 5/8" long tube headers
-true dual 2.5inch exhaust w/moroso spiral flows and x-pipe

any predictions on horsepower and torque would be appreciated. i jsut find it hard to believe that 260-300 horsepower is all it could have. 300 isnt a bad number at all, but i would hate to see it below 300 after all this money spent. it certainly feels like more then 260 when being driven.

How Long Is The Duration Of Your Cam @.050? I Know Lots Of People Think That High Lift Is What Produes Horsepower. It Has More To Do With The Duration Of The Lift. The Longer The Duration The More Fuel And Air It Inhales. Sick

This Is Just My Opinon Timmy But, Your Probably Producing More Torque Than You Are Horsepower. I Had Some Drag Racers Tell Me That Horsepower Isn't What Wins Races It's Torque. But Ya know Every Racer Will Tell Ya Something Different. Sick

SSS, thats good news to me. i matched the cam with the intake manifold as best i could, and overall they both make more nuts onn hte lower end of the rpm's. i know hwat you mean though a lot say torque wins races and a lot say horsepower, but its actually hte combination of the two. you cant win a lot of races if you have 190 horsepower and 400 ft lbs of torque, and oyu cant win a lot of you have 400 horsepower and 190 ft lbs of torque. thanks though thats good news to me i would like torque ot be slightly higher.

well i can give it a try, but not doing to good in math. thanks.

oh yea and my back tires are 295 50r15's, jsut goes to show what you can fit back there. about 11.6 inches wide. my tires were cheap but do give some grip, but im sure you would drop your et's right down if you threw on any pair of tires with a similar size. cant fit much bigger then that when it comes to width.

What is your duration @ .50? I am sure you listed the advertised duration. I hate to be the downer here but you really probably only making the area of 275 or so HP. Your heads and compression are really kepping you down. However your torque is well over 300 I am sure. Judging how much power you have by it being a burn out monster is not going to tell you much. If you ever get to a 1/4 mile track I can figure your HP off of your mph as long as you know the weight of your car, it's not dead on but usually is close enough for a good idea.
