so while im doing the sparks and wires in my car i think im also going to do this, but what will i really see as a benifit from making my engine run cooler.....sorry this is probably a real dumb question, but i wanna know.

also if you don't think this is a good thermostat let me know what you would recommend

Nice 4th Gen! I'm running a 160 degree stat in a carbed modified 305 in a '91and it works well for me because I've eliminated all the computer controlled sensors. In your application I think you need the 195/factory temp stat to activate all your computer controlled functions accurately for emmissions and injector pulse, timing,knock sensor etc. I would call/get on line to a GM mechanic and see how low of a temp you could go and have your "system" operate within its' "closed loop" configuration. Cooler is always better as far as longevity goes but your application requires a minimum temp for everyting to work in harmony.
