need 383 stroker advice!!
hey guys im looking to build a 383. I was wondering what the stroke on the crank is supposed to be.. is it 3.75? or something else? also what should the rod length be 5.7? is there anything else I should know about building this motor? other than rods built for clearance?

the stroke is 3.75. and for rods you can use 5.7" or 6" most of the big power ppl use 6" because with the longer rod you take some stess off of the cylinder wall. the block may need a bit more clearancing with the 6" but imo if your building it then build it to last.
and the only other thing i can tell you about building it dont go into the project planning on spending $4k and only having $4k go in with a plan/budget but be prepared to spend more.

i already have everything else lined up. 350 turbo tranny built by the best im my region with b&m shift kit. 373 rear end. 90/10 springs up front 50/50 coilover in the back. alum radiator, driveshaft, and waterpump. all put into an 86 ircon.. oh man I can't wait.

ok reading your guys advice makes me pose to more questions. why 6.0 rods over 5.7... what is the benefit? also has anyone ever supercharged a 383 or is the stroke to long and weak for the xtra combustion?
