If someone wants to use the calculator thats it... I really need to nail down the elevation and volumetric effeciency a little but it will need to wait untill the heads are chosen. The calculator isnt perfect but it helps.

RE: head questions
There are no numbers or anything stamped in that spot, its all smooth. I measured the clearance between the top of the piston and the deck with a feeler gauge. The thickest gauge that I was able to fit under a straight edge was .012. I will probably go with 93oct, its worth the 20cents more per gallon I always thought. Please let me know about them heads your buddy had, I would definetly be interested in them. Thanks

RE: head questions
No numbers and the measurement you gave indicate the blocks been decked. I think you have two choices one is to take the engine to the machine shop and have it measured the otheris to assume a .010 deck height and use that for the calcs. I am starting to sense some mismatches here but lets play it out and see. I check and see if he still has the heads. I might not get to the calcs till tomarrow, but I try to get to them soon.

RE: head questions
Using a .045 quench distance it puts your compression above 10:1 which I think is touchy for running pump gas.... If you dont mind I would like to go on the dart forum with your specsand see how tolerant the dart heads are to detonation.

Do whatever you need to do, I really appreciate all your help. Whatever setup you think is the best for me, that is what I will go with, you know a lot more about all this stuff than I do.

ZACK this is one response from another site I put the question out on its basically what I thought its borderline 93 should be ok but your tune will need to be on. http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/383-...on-143769.html
Ill check the dart site they were not responding last I checked though I see if the heads are still available for ya.

RE: head questions
I read both site posts, they all seem to agree, like you said, it will be border line 93oct but I should be alright with a good tune. I am anxious to get this motor built but I am aware that time and research are needed for the build to work correctly. Hopefully the heads are still available that would be nice. Thanks

RE: head questions
ZACK I spoke to the guy today they are using them on a engine he has a set of double humps but the chambers are to small for you. The dart ones seem like a good deal use a head gasket wit a compressed thickness of .035. good luck with it and double check your clearances.
