Head Gasket Problems
So I blew the head gasket in my 96 z28, and when we were taking it apart we found out that we couldn't get to the left side of the exhaust bolts. Now I was wondering if there is a way around that with out droppint the whole mottor its selft because I really dont want to do that!!!
are you talking the driver side? that should be the easy side. i use a rachet with a flex head to change my plugs so it may be that something like that will help. be sure to soak it good with some rust imhibitor and let soak for a day. some of them you may have to get from underneath.
I went to harbour frieght and bought some thumb ratchets that made the job alot easier once we got them broke loose. I used a ratchet from Advanced auto that has a handle that you can extend with one of the flex heads that craby mentiions to break them loose. You can also fit a open end wrench down from the top to get on some of the bolts but make sure they are broken loose first or you will round them off. Might I add, there was a few ounces of skin missing when we were finished.
