Question Good street motor?

I'm looking to turn my 2nd gen into a Street/Strip car and I can't quite decide on which motor to get.. I was thinking 383, 454, or 496. No super charger but maybe a small shot of NOS. Any sugestions or comments on the streetabilty of these builds? I'd like to be able to smoke any car that pulls up next to me at a stoplight

Well, the first thing I'm gonna say is that there is always a faster car, or someone with more money who will build the faster car.

With that said, if you only want straightline performance then go big-block for sure!
But if you'd like to be able to maintain some....civility...then small block would be the way to go.

If you want even more help, a few details would be appreciated.
What are your goals (hp/trq/quarter times)? What is currently in the car? Auto or manual? All those things will really help us help you!

I'm running a fairly stock 425 hp, 427ci big block, with the following changes: .520 lift cam,(very short duration) some head work, .040"over TRW forged pistons, Edelbrock Torker intake, 780 Holley DP, and a set of Doug's headers, with 2 1/2" exhaust system.
Dynos at 465HP now and is very streetable, yet turns decent 1/4 mile times too. Big blocks will make good HP and torque, and be much more streetable than smaller cubic inch engines of equal HP.
PS- I still can't beat every car that pulls up next to me.
