Default Flat Tappet Cam

What's the proper way to brake this type of Cam in? I've never used one myself or installed one.

The cam companys recommend a number of things for solid flat tappit cams 1st being proper assembly lube, oil such as shell rotella containing zinc, no windage tray no oil restrictors(not really break in but part of the game) depending on company some suggest running lighter valve springs or taking center spring out and or using a 1.2 or 1.3 ratio rocker, prime engine oil make sure everything is correct for engine to fire and stay running run rpm to 2000 or so verying slightly over a 25 minute break in time, the fun part is making sure the pushrods are turning during this process. I think some of this is overboard but that would be up to you I guess... Food for thought-you dont have this big of process with a roller cam.....

Yeah that's what I'm using. Andross wants a torque motor so I found him a massive truck towing cam for his 383. Only types are flat tappet.

As griff said, very important that the pushrods spin, which means that the lifters are spinning, otherwise the cam will be toast in a very short time. Make sure to use plenty of the assembly lube that comes with the cam.
