Deactivation system
 

Bought a 2023 V 6 with 10 speed Camero in Phoenix on 17th of July. On way home I failed to notice whether or not it was deactivating. (Actually I did not know the engine had that feature - however my 2007 Honda Odyssey did and ren perfectly for nearly 200,000 miles).

Than when I arrived in Alamogordo 400 miles later I noticed it going V4 in town, Started pay attention then and it would not do it when cold - only when warmed up. Then only at less than highway speed.

Just took trip to El Paso for airport pick up of son - and not a single time did the deactivation kick in - and still being below 1000 miles I kept it around 65 mph.

One thing I did after driving from Phoenix - took it in for engine oil change as precaution. So oil has been changed

Any Ideas?

I am so close to needing trip back to Iowa for a mandatory probate court date that I put the Chevy garage off until I return..

Have trouble believing that I am the only one with this issue!

When I return from my 2500 mile round trip I will be watching closely to see if the system begins to work properly on it's own over that time and trip. I am thinking that the little bit of debris from manufacturing of the engine itself was caught up in the filteration of the VVT and possibly that is the problem. Yesterday for the first time I noted it kick in at speed slightly above 40 mph which up to now it has not done.

I owned a 2007 Odyssey with similar system and drove it nearly 200,000 mile with not a single problem and I fully desire for this Camero to do the same.

Finally found vast details about this system.

Found that the deactivation is designed to energize during light load movment down highway - however it all depends upon the throttle activity, air resistance, computer analysis and inputs, and mechanical settings and responses - not a real simple system.

All I want is for highway travel coditions with straight and level roadway at highway speed - that the deactivation energizes.

Presently it does not perform according to the designed parameters - Do have appointment with the chevy garage for the tech that works on these systems along with an oil change. I trust the issue will be taken care of.

Apparently no one else has noted an issue with their car's operation - or else no one cares Because;
My Camero v6 usually obtains 32 to 34 mpg in present operation on the highway. Not bad
