I have a rebuilt 350 block (4 bolt)and heads from a 73 camarothat i am planning on putting in an 86 iroc. This is my first project car so i am still a newbie but i want to give the 350 newcams. And if I install new cams I might as well get new rockers, lifters, rods, and valves correct? My problem is there are so many options and i dont know exactly which parts to buy. I already have anEdelbrock intake manifold and carb. Any suggestions would be helpful.

You should buy a matched set, and avoid having to figure out what works well with what. Call one of the camshaft grinders and tell them what you have, what you want to wind up with, and they'llrecommend something that is suitable. Stay away from solid lifter cams as they are a lot of maintenance. If you can go for the bux, go with roller hydraulic lifters and cast steel full roller rockers.

Ok so i called up Comp Cams and i told them what i had(350 small block 4 bolt main, stock'73 camaro heads) and they recommended a12-601-8 cam kit andmagnum roller rockers (1412-16). What does anyone think about this setup? Also, the guy from Comp Cams saidthe kit wouldcome withshorter push rods. Doesnt that defeat the purpose of using a larger cam to get more lift out of my valves? I'm not sure what length my push rods should be.

All a pushrod does, is to transfer the motion of the lifter to the rocker arm, and has to be of the proper length to maintain proper geometry or angles of the valve train parts (too long or too short, and the tip of the rocker will slide off the side of the valve stem)The actual valve lift and duration is determined by the camshaft and rocker arms. Go with the push rods they recommend, they know how their stuff fits toghether and how to make it work properly, don't try to re-invent the wheel.
