AUTOMATIC AND STANDARD
advantages of the manual-
more control over the vehicle, slightly higher top end speed, adds "feel" to the ride
auto advantages-
longer transmission life, no replacing burnt clutches, easier to drive, less missed shifts, easier to drive in traffic, cant stall out
IMO, ( In My Opinion) i would buy an automatic trans vehicle. it all depends on what your looking for. i will post actual times

If you are talking about LT1 and LS1 cars (93-02) then for drag racing I would get an auto and put a 3500-4000 rpm torque converter in it, it will be faster than a stick and have less of a chance of breaking the rear end.
sticks are alota fun for auto cross and street racing cause i race these lil tuners all over theplace and tearum up with my 2800lbs car sticks are alota maitnece though ive broke 3 yokes and counting ring gear and burnt 2 clutches in my 2 mothes of driving the car granted i do have a 6o0 hp motor and i drive about 160 on the freeway and downshif every time i stop and slam gears on the up shift but sticks are fun OH YEA THEY GET YOU LOTS OF TICKITS I MEAN LOTS MY BOY TRAVIS HAS GOT 2 CAUSE OF MY CAR
