aluminum heads for LT1
Ive been looking around at heads for my LT1, and have a few questions.
i was looking at AFR, with the 195cc heads would i have to change my intake manifold or would the stock one work. Would they fit an LT4 manifold. Also if i spend all this money on heads should i get all new springs and such or would the stock ones be OK.

If you decide to go for the 195cc LT4 heads then you will have to change your manifold to the LT4 intake manifold, Edelbrock makes one that you can use. The LT4 intake's runners are raised 0.10" over the LT1 to allow for larger intake port volume as well as a better intake port angle into the cylinder. When you get the new heads you should get the complete head which should come with the whole valve train except the rockers, that way you know the vavle springs can get the larger valves down quick enough so you don't float a valve and screw up your motor. Make sure to note that the LT4 heads probably come with 7/16" rocker studs, so you will have to replace your rockers. Go for Comp Cams 1.6:1 roller rockers. You may have to modify your valve covers to fit the new rockers.

You won't need new valve covers, but you will have to modify the ones that you have. The new rockers are going to hit on the braces inside the vlave covers, all you have to do is cut one side out and you're fine. I recently posted a response to this very issue, I'll link it for you. The only other things that you need to remember are gaskets.
