Default aluminum heads?

i have a stock 91 z w/350 tpi motor and recently saw a set ofnew aluminum heads, the ad said they were edelbrock performer and they wanted 650 dollars for the set is this a good buy and will this work with my current stock set up if not what else do i need to do in conjunction with the new heads. the car is not my daily driver for now and is a non emission registered car, i'm looking to start to mod the car and not sure where to start and happen to see the heads for sale. all suggestions welcome

Default RE: aluminum heads?

Assuming that the aluminum heads flow better than the ones you have, you should also get a hotter cam to take advantage of the added flow. Of course you should also upgrade the intake and exhaust as the engine will want more air and have more exhaust to expel. You will also need to reprogram your computer to take advantage of the changes. Everything has to be done as a package in order to get best results.
