4 barrel quadrajet not functioning
I just recently bought a 79 camaro with a 4 barrel Quadrajet carb on it. I was doing some work on it today and noticed that some mechanism to activate the 4 barrel at full throttle is missing. Im a little new to this and im not exactly sure what im missing...any ideas to what parts I need and where I could find them would be appreciated. I would prefer to not buy a new carb yet

It's a pivot type lever. The primary barrels open in one direction, the secondary's open the opposite direction. The lever operates both sets of barrels. I would suggest finding another quadrajunk and robbing the pieces or ponying up the money for a new carb. I don't think you can just get the piece you need.

Getting another quadrajunk!? Nononono...buy an Edelbrock setup with a 650cfm carb and intake manifold or something, don't even try to replace that thing...it's not worth it.

Don't listen to these peole that call them Quadrajunk. They just do not understand so instead of admiting that they call call them bad things. Those edelbrock carter type built by weber usa are junk when new. When weber opened a factory in the us everything that came out of it was junk. I used to have a bunch of different q jets and parts but ended up missplacing it all while cleaning. (thats why I don't like to clean!) You will be able to find the part at a wrecker. Or even a rebuilder may have some spare pieces

Don't get me wrong, I've used lots and lots of quardajets in my life and that's not that long of a time. They were ok carbs for most street applications. My fav carb ever was my Carter AFB Competition Series.
