1.8 roller rockers install

I have a set of 1.8 stainless roller rockers for my 472 bbc and was wondering if I can easily put these on without valve clash, anything to be worried about? Have you ever heard of cutting the polylocks down a little to fit under the valve cover? thanks adam

Wow, you just don't know if there is valve clearance.

As to cutting down the polylocks, yeah I've done it, but never felt really good about it. and on CAST (not stamped) valve covers I've ground away about half the thickness inside for clearance. I've done this too many times to count with shaft and roller rocker additions, and I've always gotten away with it.

sounds like ill cut the polylocks then but is there any real way to see if Ive got clearance for the 1.8 rockers? any simple ways. Im running 10.25 dome pistons on 781 oval port heads. and the cam is 550-560 lift. thanks for the post.

FIRST, WHAT SIZE CAM ARE YOU RUNNING ALREADY. IS THIS SOMETHING YOU BUILT, CAN YOU TALK TO THE MACHINIST THAT DID SOME OF THE WORK OR NOT? NOT SURE HOW MUCH CLEARENCE YOU HAVE NOW.

Kinda late reply here. but an easy way to tell is put them on the #1 piston and with all plugs removed, crank the engine around by hand. If there is not enough clearance, you will know. and you won't damage anything.
