Scratch Remover.

I'm not so sure what has happened, but it seems as though that ever since I gota dark colored car, that the existing surface clear coat scratches have been hard to get out. Anyone reccomend a good scratch remover? I've tried Meguirers, Mother's Claybar, Mother's wax, Nu Finish, and Nu Finish Scratch Doctor. After all this the paint is as smooth as a baby's behind, but still has some minor scratches that need some attention.

Darn, you've tried all the best. How deep are they? One thing that helpd with some I had was clay (there are other names for it), I used Maguires Smooth Surface Clay Kit. SOmetimes the scratches are actually in the build up of contaminates in the paint and not the clear coat or paint itself.

The best thing is to take 1500 grit snadpaper, go over the scratches lightly with it (dont sand through the clear) and then use 3M buffing compound with a wool buffing pad, then 3m polishing glaze with a foam pad on the buffer. I did this after my car got keyed, took care of the scratch, also if the car has any orange peel of sand in the paint it gets rid of those problems

That sound good. I have to keep that in mind.

if you sand it, use wet/dry paper and do it with a wet piece of paper, and keep a little water on the spot as well

Thanks, appreciate it. I guess 1800 wet might even be a bit safer, think so?

i'd stay 1500, 1800 is not going to take off enough to remove the scratch more than likely, its just amatter of how deep the scratch is, obviously ya cant do anything with one through the clear

dont bother with the sandpaper, the rubbing compound will take out any scratches that arent to the base coat.

I'm not quite sure what it is, but I've done everything and used everything. Even little fine scratches in the clear coatwon't come out. I guess its just one of the perks of owning a dark colored car.
