Default Couple Quesitons..

Hey whats up guys, I am a new Camaro owner. I actually baught snoopersports's camaro. Got a couple questions about the paint.

Ill start off with this.. last weekend me and my buddy spent 4 hours washing, claybaring, buffing then waxing the car.

This weekend I wanted to put on another coat of wax so i clay bared and waxed again.

My question to you guys is Does clay baring really take off all the wax? I am getting many different anwers to this one from google and I would like for someone to clearify for me.

Also, Can you layer wax? or is that just a myth.. Once again ive been getting multiple answers from google.

Currently i am using meguirers (sp?) clay bar and wax. Just the "cleaner wax".

Thanks!

your best bet is to use something to remove all the wax first (an acidic dishwashing detergent is usually good), after that you can clay bar. this isn't really used for taking wax off, it is used for removing all the surface contaminants off of the paint.

now you will want to wash your car again to get off any residue left from the wax.

from there a good cleaner wax is good to use because it again helps remove surface contaminants and starts to put a layer of protection on the car.

next is to put a nice glaze on your car to really help the paint "pop"

and then finish it off with a good coat of a carnuba paste for some good protection

you can layer waxes but at some point you are really getting no added benefit from it. also you aren't going to get the protection or depth from a synthetic wax of polish, as you are going to get from a good carnuba paste.

I have a thread on here somewhere where I posted a picture of my GTO after doing all this by hand and it looks as good, if not better than most people have accomplished with machines. I'm going to try to find it now

I found it and I think you'll be impressed by it enough to follow my steps listed above. I acomplished this with all Mother's products

I like the way your paint looks on the GTO...I also use mothers for most of my cleaners, and like 1969 SS said the carnuba paste provides great protection.~Good luckmaking her shine~

it is called glaze and most decent companies make some. it is in a liquid form, not a paste. again, I use Mother's 'California Gold' sealer and glaze. it is applied just like a liquid wax before you put your final coat of wax on
