Strange probelms starting and staying running

I have a 95 3.4l. about two months ago, when i would go to start the car..i would turn the key but the engine would not turn over...but when i bridged the started.the starter would turn over but the car would not stay on..after a few tries i would go inside the car and the key would turn the starter over, but the engine would not stay on. After an hour of leaving the car sit, i would jump in and it would start the first time.
This was happened off and on for months now..its starts where there is no noise when i turn the key over..than after repeated tries it will turn over but not stay on..even after try after try..so i come back the car a couple hours later, and it will fire up the first time.
I have checked the fuel rail, fuel pump appears to working..the starter will turn over anytime i bridge it, but i randomly wont start and its getting worst. any suggestions or has this happened to anyone else?

get the battery tested. It sounds like you could also have a short to ground somewhere. All the starter needs to do is turn the flywheel to start the engine but if it doesnt stay running, you either dont have enough volts to run the car, fuel or maybe something blocking the exhaust from exiting

Have the starter tested and the alternator. This sounds like an electrical issue. There might even be a ground shorting out.
