Laptop hookup

Laptop hookup
New to this forum but know cars and I am partial to GM sbc. Raced from circle track to CanAM mostly carburation. Been involved with FI for the last 10 years but now getting into scanning. Which brings me to the subject. I have a laptop which I use on OBDI via a home made 12 pin cable/RS232 port using WinALDL program on my laptop. Lately I had to work on a 95 Z28/lt1 to diagnose a no start condition. I like to be able to hook my laptop to it and do some scanning. I read one of many posts here and at the end of one there were three options on laptop programs available. If my memory serves me right and I appologize if the credit is not going to the proper member, the name was z28pete. Can someone redirect me to that post or what else is available? I like to use the 16 pin port on the car and hook it to my laptop. Can it be done and where would I find the "How to.."? At least with the older 12 pin I could jump A & B to flash the codes on the dash. I don't know if the same can be done without a scan tool. Thank you in advance. BTW - I don't have a Camaro but have street rods in the family.

RE: Laptop hookup
The problem you are having is that although the 95 is OBDI the connector is configured for OBDII. There are special cables made for this, but I don't have the info at my fingertip. I'll try to look it up and post the info.
