edelbrock carb vacuum port quetion

I recently overhauled an edelbrock carb that a friend gave to me. It is missing the electric choke assy. so there is a small hole on the side causing a vacuum leak. I don't want to run a choke just yet, don't need it here in Hawaii. What is the best way to plug it? Do I drill and tap for a smallscrew or do they sell a soft plug for it? Second question, it has two large 3/8 vacuum ports. One in the front and one at back. Which one is used for the PVC or does it even matter? Thanks.

RE: edelbrock carb vacuum port quetion

I presume you're talking about a hole in the body of the carb, and not a nipple type fitting? You might be able to find a small plastic plug at the hardware store. Otherwise a small sheet metal screw with a little silicone schmootzed on the threads will seal it.
For the PCV, if both those large vacuum ports are in the base plate of the carb, then you could use either one. Or one for the PCV valve and the other for power brakes (if you have them).
