once it dies test to see if the coil is getting power. pink wire. also grab a plug and see if its getting spark at the plug wire.

if it is not getting spark at the wire, does that tell me the coilpack? or the opti.?

at least it tell us its not the fuel. so is there power to the pink wire when theres no spark?

thanks pete i was gona hunt that down. so now we gota make a couple wires to see if it will work with this scanner. im just surprised that it scanns both 1 and 2 that it cant scann a 1 with a 2 plug. lol. im sure its got something to do with copy rights. wes i have a working ignition coil modual but im not sure its the same for a 93 and a 95. ill have to look on summit and see. take the coil modual out and see if the guy cleaned off the grease thats supposed to be on the back of the modual between it and the mount when he changed the coil. pete is that just dielectric grease or is it some special stuff?

i wasnt able to get to ceck that today with all the running i had to do. i will get it done tomorrow when i get off work. I came across a simple scanner today, but it was hardwired obd2. i see in the picture it is a #1 plug that is scanning. i mght be able to get ahold of a better one tomorrow, my neibor has one, its just a matter of running into him.

thanks for all your help guys, this car is supposed to be a runner but rite now its a 2500 dollar paper weight. I really would love to see this car going. I have almost enough saved for that new opti if it turns out bad, i have enough for the ACdelco, but not enough for the MSD yet. Still 150 short.

know anyone who wants to buy a compound bow???

The grease behind the ignition control module is just dielectric grease. The module can get pretty hot on its own and the grease conduct heat and helps to bring it down to engine temp. Some people like to separate the module from the engine with heavy washers thinking that the engine is heating up the module, but that just allows it to get hotter.

ok. no power to the coilpack or the modual after the motor idles/dies.. i was told the crank angle sensor would effect that. is this true??

The crank sensor was used in 96 & newer engines. The crank sensor in the LT1s that have them is for the detection of misfire only & does not affect how the engine runs. All timing signals are provided by the opti.
