Default CFM question

I just installed an edelbrock performer 750 on my 402 big block. The engine is mildly modified with a new cam with an operating range of 1200-4600 rpm. The rear gears are 3:73:1. So did I over carb my engine? I haven't gotten it out and running the street yet, but if i give it a little gas I feel like the engine is flooded or something, granted I haven't adjusted timing or idle mixture and so forth. Any suggestions?

No, it's not over carbed. The engine might just need a good tuning (initial timing, vacuum advance, carb). How come you went with only a 4600 rpm cam? A big block, and small block stroker motor already makes gobs of torque on the low end as it is. You could have extended the power band with a different cam, instead of having power start to drop off after 4600 rpm's.

Default yeah..

I bought the car from a guy in SC and i thought the same thing when i read the cam card, but that's about all it has in regards to power. It's not bad really, I'd rather be rocking a hydraulic roller cam pushing higher rpm but I don't have enough experience yet to do a cam job.
