94 LT1 Computer Reprogramming?
So I was looking at this website http://www.speartech.com/ under the computer reprogramming link and it says the following.
Typical computer reprogramming for retrofitting engines includes: 1. Disabling the anti-theft (VATS). 2. Disabling EGR, A.I.R., evap system, post-cat oxygen sensors on OBD II systems and other emissions equipment for a clean looking installation. 3. Lowering the cooling fan turn on temperature. The factory setting is typically 226 F--very HOT! It may help pass an emissions test when new, but the engine is much happier operating at a lower temperature. 4. Raising the rev limiter. For the performance-minded enthusiast! 5. Other changes available upon request. Before I call them and sound like a noob, why would they do #2? Disabling EGR, A.I.R., etc... I don't know too much about cars but I wanted to give a bit more power and run better. I also wanted to disable the VATS system because mine has tweaked, the car starts but the light always stays on and its annoying at night. The price for this says $150 for LT1 94-95 I have a 94, Is this a good price for these services? I wanted to come here first so that if I were to call, I don't sound like a clueless kid. |
go to pcmforless.com, they are very reliable and have done tuning for years.the reason they would do #2 is for performance reasons, like if you had race headers on the car.why are you getting a tune ? what has been done to the car ?

Cool thanks, Ill check it out, I really wanted it to raise the rev limiter and to disable the VATS system which the light really bugs me. I also wanted to remove the speed limiter, 108max :/ I don't think I'll be putting race headers anytime soon.
