94 Camaro Sputtering out
I have a 1994 Camaro z28, It starts up just fine, fires right up no problem but after a second or so it shuts off, every time even if I rev it, it cuts out at the same time. I have good fuel pressure when the key is on or it is running, I have oil pressure and spark, because of the consistency it seems like an ignition problem, I talked to a chevy dealer and they said it could be the ignition switch from the key sliding in and out so much. The car does have 179,000 miles, so would that make sense, if anyone has ideas please let me know, thanks.

ok heres what you do...
get a multimeter and turn it to ohms (Ω) than check the resistance of the chip in the key (put one lead on one side and the other on the other) than go to radio shack and tell them you need a resistor with that value. after you have that, get under the dash and there should be an orange casing with 2 small wires in it cut the casing open above the connector (that way it can be reversed) and cut both wires in half. solder the resistor between the 2 wires. the vats system should be bypassed and (as long as your problem is infact vats related) the car should be fixed.
all in all as long as you have a multimeter this should cost you about 1$
if that doesnt fix the problem get on craigslist and post an ad in the services section that you need someone to come and read the codes on your car

Or go to a hardware store that cuts VATS keys, they have a reader that will tell you what number key you have (1-15).
Here's the resistance value for the keys: http://www.thirdgen.org/vats_passkey_system
