Different Key Fob
 

Hey guys

My car only came with one key fob because i bought it used. But then my friend threw my keys and it broke and fell apart.I have a spare key fob from my previous car i traded in. Am I able to reprogram it to work with a different car? I really don't feel like paying ridiculous dealer fees either.

My old car was a '07 pontiac solstice and my new car is an '01 camaro. Both are GM cars and have the same button placement with "unlock, lock, trunk, and alarm".

It should be possible. What I had to do was remove my fuse for the radio, turn the key on then off three times. Then the doors should unlock. I then had to press and hold the lock and unlock buttons untill the doors locked. About 5 seconds. Dont forget to remove that fuse. You might want to double check with a dealer first. Like I said I have a 96.

hey man i have a 96 Z28. will that sequence work fro me, say if i bought a keyless entry keychain off ebay?

can you do that with another key fob thats not gm? if i try to program it and it fails will it hurt the car?
