I can't help you with the am/fm thing, that has to be from the installation or the metra dash kit. As far as the RPM noise, I would bet that you're amps have been grounded to the body somewhere and as the newer cars are a complex mix of metals and therefore not pure steel they do not conduct current as well. I would suggest to have your power and ground ran directly to the battery and never touch the body. I would also suggest getting a battery with both side and top mounting and using the top just for your stereo connections. That should cut out the noise from the speakers. You could also change the main power supply to the head unit from the factory to one coming directly from the battery with inline fuse to stop any possiblity of that being an isuse also. The remote/key on wire should be fine and it doesn't supply power to the headunit itself. Any other problems if this doesn't work would be to make sure your stereo wires (all) at not close to any other stock wirering. I hope this finds you in time and you haven't given up. And if you did fix your system that you share with us.
