Default 94 Camaro Bose Help

I have a factory BOSE setup. I replaced the worn head unit (tape) with a new Alpine HU.

Everything works great except for the volume control. The volume is too LOUD!

I think it has something to do with the factory amp. When I play my radio, cd player or iPod the volume at 5 is extremely loud already. This doesn't allow me to have a range of volume especially at low levels.

How can I bypass the amp or "jump" the wires on the input and output side of the amp? Is there one amp or an amp for each speaker? I prefer to not have to run all new wire to all the speakers.

55w per channel x 4

I even turned the LOUD button OFF.

I have the HPF set at 160Hz so I don't blow my stock speakers.

Hmmm...

That jas nothing to do with ur aftermarket headunit. The 55wx4 is peak power and is actually like 20watts rms x4. but dont worry about that. I have a 96 Z28 with the bose system and i had the same problem. however the bose system in my car has a mini amp on the back of each speaker.(Bose is bull****) The only real way to get rid of the problem is to get new speakers. or if ur lucky, and you have a single amp somehwere in the car, then u can just bipass that amp and ull be fine.
