Default 12" Subwoofers

This was the 2nd project I did when I first bought this camaro.

The speaker box was just sitting in the back seat, taking up over half the back seat.

From this:

(wires were run straight from the sterio under the front seats to the amp & speakers)

So you have about 75 watts going to each sub?

Yeah, its pretty small. Its a 250-watt amp, so roughy 125 watts are running to each sub.

Eventually I wanna try to get a 600-watt amp.

I don't think your getting 125 to each sub, maybe 75.
Is that a full enclosure or is just a piece of wood across trunk area?
I doesn't look bad, but I think it's time to upgrade.....

Its a piece of wood thatI have strapped down. I didn't make a whole enclosed box, because I just wanted to get them out of my backseat. Whenever I choose to upgrade my amp, i'll make a new box as well.

I've never done any work on my audio system until I did this, so i'm kinda a noob when it comes to it. Why would there only be 75 watts running to each sub? what happened to the other 100 that I should have?

amps never run the power that they are rated for. i usually say about 3/4 depending on the brand. what i usually do is get an amp rated for twice as much as the sub and turn the settings down a bit on it. right now im in the process of buildin a box for my 91 rs. 2 2000 watt audiobahn 12's and 1 2500 watt 15 running the 12's with a 5000 watt audiobahn and the 15 the same. will show pics when im done

Well damn, I dont want to bust the hatchback glass into millions of tiny pieces. I just want it loud enough to wake up the neighbors if I decide to take a little midnight stroll hahah.

I have a friend who drives a Dodge minivan who threwtwo 12" Boston Acoustics in the back with a 600-watt amp powering them. It might betwo 600 watt amps, i'm not too sure now that I think about it. Anyways, thats loud enough to rattle my windows when he drives by.

well i dont run them at full power all the time. but the woofers are clean and crisp and have a lot more adjustability than lower watt subs. also if u run a capacitor u will get a cleaner beat. but if want to i can wake up the block. ive had this system in there for about a year now just trying to clean it up a little now. im thinkin fiberglass the whole hatch is my best bet. im trying to get rid of my box now. only askin 100 bucks for it paid 200 new its for a 97 but i fabbed it to fit let me know if your interested. btw the glass on the hatches wont break but the trunk latch did on mine when i had 3 15's
