If money is no object, Goodyear Eagle F1's. They were on mine when I bought it. I'm not sure if I want to find out where their limits are in the corners. Mine are 275/40/17's. They were wheel/tire takeoff's from an 02 SS. They have a little less than 20k on them, and will be replaced next spring with Firestone Firehawk Indy 500's. I just can't see spending $350+ per tire for a summer daily driver. My buddy has the Firehawks on his '85 Trans Am with a dyno proven 425 horse 406. He is much pickier than I am and he likes them.

Best tire is Michelin Pilot Super Sport, but you may have to go upto 18" rims to get them.

Michelin also makes & owns BFG, and their g-Force Sport COMP-2 are great tires too, similar dual compound just like the PSS.

I have both the above on my SS & RS -- love them both, glue to the road and in wet!

Look at Consumer Reports' ratings, the PSS (90 of 100) is their highest rated tire EVER, the Eagle F1s (82 of 100) are #2. The COMP-2 tires are not yet rated, but will be in their fall update...

I just ordered these, I canceled my goodrich order, for the price I couldn't beat them

Those are rated a 76 of 100 by Consumer Reports, but are an all season tire. I am so done with all season tires, unless something really good comes along… KDWs are rated 78 of 100.

I do hear the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 tires are pretty darn good compared to the A/S Plus tires I didn't care for...

Dunlop Direzza DZ101. I put a set on my 96 convertible, 245/40-18 front & 275/35-18 rear, (18x8.5 frt & 18x9.5 rear ZR-1 knock-offs) just over a month ago, and love them.

Dunlop is a Goodyear stepchild. UTOQ rated at A - A - 300.

These tires got a 78 of 100 from CR -- they are one of the lowest rated of the Ultra High Performance summer tires for hydroplaning - watch out!

Not really worried about Consumer Reports... their 'advice' & 'ratings' have missed the mark a number of times.

The car is rarely driven in bad weather, and having 40+ years of licensed driving experience, (and a couple licenses from sanctioning bodies), on several continents, I feel confident in the choice of tires.

We liked the Cooper Zeons RS3-A that was on our 85 Corvette. When spring comes back that's what I'm getting for my 98 Z28 as for old school look and stuff I got Cooper Cobras on my 81 Z28 and I'm happy with those.
