So I was just thinkin about what could add a lil extra to my camaro. I have a 2002 v6. But anyways I've dont some painting in the past with the Duplicolor Mirage kits but nothing on the exterior of a car. So i'm just curious if anyone knows how well that will hold up to sun exposure, rain etc.The design Is gonna be only on the hood and it will be some sort of stripe design. Any input is welcome.

I don't see why it wouldn't hold up. The mirage is a three step paint, with the third being a clear coat.
Just remember that stuff is a lacquer, and your present clear coat isn't.
But your clear coat is pretty durable, so I doubt you'll have any lifting problems. But, I would put the base paint down in nice light coats so it dries faster.
Laying the paint on heavy will keep it wet longer, which will give it more time to try to attack what's under it.

You do need to sand the area you're going to paint. If you don't, your stripes will eventually wind up flaking back off. You don't need to remove your existing clear coat, just give it a goodroughing up. An 800 grit wet sanding will work well.

i agree with camaro 69 but i would clear coat the whole panel to stop it from flakin if your just putting stripes down the hood and the trunk it wouldn't take that much more time and sand paper to clear it all wouldn't have to worry about catching it with the buffer either
