Default Changing From 16s to 17-inch Wheels

I am new to all of this stuff, so bear with me. I have a genuine 2002 RS from SLP. It originally came with 16x8 ZR1 wheels. The original owner did away with them and I cannot locate them. I recently came across a set of very nice 17x9.5 ZR1s at an affordable price. These wheels were mounted on a 97 RS and the seller tells me I can mount them onto my 2002 with no problems. Is this true? Do I need spacers? Thanks for any and all help!

That link helps the imagination. I was just hoping that my 275/40/17s wouldn't be too much for the front. I'm going with those all the way around.

im using 245s and am doing my best to wear em out so i can go with something a little wider like a 265 or 275. 275 is pushing it so probly better do some research to see if they fit eh. lol. i know the 265s will and i think ive seen up to 285 but im thinking that was with mods.

I just called the guy I bought them from. He had them mounted on his 1997 RS with no mods needed. I would assume I can do the same with my 2002. I think I'm going to take a chance on it. The tire shop said they'll mount and balance them on Thursday. I'm anxious to see how they turn out.

That's a lot of good info. Thanks for the links! I'll throw some pictures on here when I get it all finished.

275/40/17 is FINE on front and back with NO mods -- I have them on my SS with SLP original wheels.
