So do you think I would be better off paying like 200 more for a engine out or a rwd because it sounds like a lot of work swaping all those parts.

 

Depends on if you have the tools and time to swap over all the parts. Personally, I would be looking for a vehicle that had a compatible engine with lower miles and hear run, if at all possible. Even if you pick up a used engine from a donor camaro, you will still want to at least replace the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets and the little "L" shaped plastic water bypass tube under the throttle body and the valve covers gaskets at a minimum. They are not hard to work on at all when they are out of the engine bay. If you call and ask for a camaro engine though, you can bet to pay at least 200 more, regardless of its condition.

 

would it be a better idea money wise to just sell it as-is or fix in and sell it later? also other than buying the engine, how much money would i be spending? Should i do a rebuild or buy a used with same miles?

 

These are some questions that you will have to decide. You will have to check your local area to see what these cars are selling for with bad engines. If it is like it is here, you will have a hard time getting $700 for it with bad engine. As far as changing the gasket kit on a donor engine, you are looking at about $150 to $200 in a gasket kit that comes with all the top end gaskets and orings for the fuel rail. As far as the rebuild or donor....another decision you will have to make depending on your financial situation and how long you plan on keeping the car. A rebuild will cost you around $1500 for parts and machine work, depending on what internal damage has been done to the motor. Donor engines go anywhere from around $500 up to $1000. Those prices are for my area and may be different in your neck of the woods.

 

I just want to get it to run. Money is very tight because I don't have a job. I'm prob. Going to get a used engine but what are some things I could do to it while it's out?
