Won't rev past 3500-4000 RPM???
I have a 1994 V6 133,000 miles, and it used to have an intermittent problem where it wouldn't rev past 3500-4000 RPMs (the problem seemed to show up as the car got warmer and not happen when it was colder, say around 160-170). Well that problem has decided to show up for good now. If you ease on the gas in park it will make it to about 4000 RPMs and then it's like it hits a rev limiter (the tach needle bounces and all that) if you push the gas to the floor it seems to hit more around 3500 RPMs. It doesn't have a service engine soon light on or anything, and I even tried replacing the MAP sensor just to be sure that wasn't it, no change. The car seems to run a little rough as if it needs a tune-up but other then that drives fine as long as it stays under 3500RPMs. Any ideas guys??? Thanks for all your help.

RE: Won't rev past 3500-4000 RPM???
this question is asked constantly on camarov6.com
for the 3.8's its supposed to be like that. its electronically limited in park. i assume the 3.4 is the same way. quit worrying about it.
mustang killa, theres no such thing as a 94 RS.
RS camaros haveground effects (among other things). if you look your car up on carfacts or something like that, and it says camaro/RS it means camaro "or" camaro RS. there were never any 3.4 rs camaros.

RE: Won't rev past 3500-4000 RPM???
Loochy88 is absolutely correct. The car is set up to prevent over revving in neiutral or park. So If you are trying to rev the car up in neutral, the rev limiter will kick in at around 4000 RPM. This should only happen in neutral, and the engine should rev up to the red line with no problems when the transmission is in gear.
