Hi all and let me say thanks in advance. I just got this 1994 3.4l automatic with a blown head gasket. I've never dove that far into a motor but i had someone helping me. Now he has flaked on me, and im trying to put it back together but i don't know where a few pieces/plugs/hoses go.

heres the fuel rail. It has a big plug that i would think would be really obvious, but i can't find anything to plug into it. There is also a spot for a hose that i don't know where it goes

i have one. It helps a lot with torque specs and whatnot but if you don't know what something is or where it goes, its not much help. If you can show me where "random bracket" or "random wire plug" or "ground wire" is in it, thatd be a big help.



Nobody can look under their hood and tell me where any of it goes? If i get just one answered im a step closer

 

my wireplug under the fuse box is also unplugged....the wire by your fuel rail has another end that it plugs into of the same size and the piece in front of it has a rubber T fitting on it with 2 hard plastic lies coming off it that is for your evap and pcv valve and the ground go to a bracket on the driver side that hols the fuel lines... and the o2 sensor plugs into the the wiring harness that plugs into the evap cnstr( same thing as one of the hard plastic lines plugs into for that piece up by the plug near the fuel rail...if you have any questions call me @ 8165031511 i cant post pics since my camera broke last mont

 

now i want to know where that plug near the fuse box goes too....

couldnt find that bracket and didnt see that wire

 

get yourself the factory service manual for your yr and model. wire for the 02 sensor is purple and white, ground should go on the side or front of the block. heres some stuff from my book that may help with some. pictures are not the best but you should be able to see wire colors.

 

Dude, you are headed for a big headache. The engine wiring on these cars is kind of convoluted and confusing. I just got done doing an overhaul on a 94 automatic. I didn't see the point of pulling the heads for a gasket-only job with 130k miles on the odometer.


I followed the factory manual recommendation and dropped the whole engine/trans/crossmember/strut/control arm/rack assembly out the bottom of the car. I left the engine harness in the body during removal but later took it out and installed it on the engine for reinstallation. So I'm VERY familiar with the 94 Camaro engine compartment wiring.

The main trunk of the engine harness starts at the computer and heads across the back of the engine. It then drops down to the bellhousing and heads down to the oil pan flange and then forward.

A branch at the back of the engine heads forward to hit the injector harness. From your pics that branch may be dangling at the back of the engine.

The O2 sensor (left one) connects to the branch that feeds the injector harness. This branch hits the canister purge solenoid, the left O2 sensor, and more. Look for a loose connector by the canister purge solenoid. It clips to a bracket that is bolted to the side of the upper intake manifold.

The ground wire (braided) runs from the left frame rail under the ABS pump to a stud at the very bottom of the power steering pump bracket. That bracket is the one you can't figure out a home for. You're holding it upside down so the stud goes in the hole pointing up right now (in your pic).


The "plug that came out the front of the motor" is part of the camshaft position sensor. That plug should head rearward, not forward, and connect to the main harness.



The 3-terminal connector under the fuse box is for the electric smog pump. It's hooked up on cars with a manual transmission. Don't know why is is still there on automatics.

The thing in your last pic is the canister purge solenoid and its bracket. As I mentioned above, it bolts to the upper intake on the left (driver) side.

 

Here's the power steering pump bracket on the engine. You can see the ground cable stud at the bottom.
