ok guys, i know i havent been on here in awhile but i need some advice. i just bought another camaro. its a 91 RS. the body is in perfect condition but the motor had a little over 200k on it. so i bought a brand new stock crate motor for it. i already put the motor in and everything. im still in the process of braking the motor in. as you should know, 91's have the 3.1L. i want to know if these motors have very much potential or if its even worth modding. it seems like its got something to mess with there. hit me back up guys and let me know.

w/ 200K i would leave it stock and its probably not good for much more long term miles.

I dont think i would mod a 91 3.1 even if it was 20K miles IMO

 

i replaced the stock motor witha newsame size crate motor. its got maybe 150 miles on it.

 

totally missed that...is it a 1991 3.1? Still i wouldnt expect anything big from that 6er unless you go all out and spend lots of money. Sure you could do the normal bolt ons but dont get your hopes up for any big power improvements unless you go internal/power adder. Not sure how much those 3.1s can take stock. However, i take it the car has 200K...which is a lot and if your going to beef up the motor, i'd concentrate on the 200K on the car (ie suspension, trans, anything that needs to be replaced/upgraded)

 

The engine is really too small for the weight of the car and any bolt on mods will make little difference, but if you are willing to send a lot of money, check the sticky on updating a 3.4, the engines are very similiar.

 

well the motors got some pep to it. the stock motor had 200k on so i replaced it with a crate motor which has no miles on it. i just replaced all the suspension, tires, rebuilt the tranny, and had all the fluid levels checked. ive heard that some ppl have gotten a decent amount of power outta these motors. but ive just heard and never seen. soo...............

 

hmmmm...i've never heard of anyone modding a 3.1...at the very least it will be unique, you dont really see that many 3.1's in camaros

 

im jus goin to start with the basics. CAI, exhaust, headers, and a few other stuff and i guess just see how it turns out. if all else fails i'll jus keep modding my 94.

 

if i had both those cars, I would mod up the 3.4...then once everything was done do the 3.1...just my opinion
