Default What should I pay.

Hello,

After almost a year of replacing everything on this blasted engine and it still over heats and is misfiring I going to call it quits and getting a new engine. I am pretty sure the block is cracked (even though it is not showing in the compression test) and feel its time to move on.

I am actually after two things. I remember some time ago Massey posted a list of cars with 3800 series II engines. I must be overlooking the forums because I can't find the list. A copy and paste would be awesome.

Also how much should I be looking to pay for a replacement 3800 series II engine? What kind of mileage do I want to tolerate from the replacement engine?

Thanks in advance.

Oh and I don't know if this will make a difference but my Camaro is 1995 3.8L. I know some of the stuff was different from 1995-1996.

i can get a complete engine minus accessories and wiring for 200$ at my local junk yard, but a low mile 3800 could go for up to ~500$

That is the linky you are looking for.

I paid $500 for my new engine out of a 2002 Pontiac with only 60K on it. A series III engine may be a little more but worth the upgrades.

A note on the 95 engine as the oil pan may not fit the 96+ engines. If it does not fit right then simply get an oil pan for the 96-02 Camaro and it will work with any other block. (95 was a slight oddball).
