Cool V6 problems, help please?

i have a 1996 camaro V6 RS. when i bought the car it was in bad shape. body was in amazing condition but engine needs work. it shows "missfire" on the scan tool so im guessing a tune up? needs newoil change bad. looks like water got into the oil too. no major worries until i loaded the car up on the trailer and realized it was leaking antifreeze! and worse off the leak was too far back to be coming from the radiator???? but i did check the radiator, but as soon as i opened the radiator cap i automatically seen the gell build up of dexcool and green antifreeze bein mixed.... the car cranks and idles very good. it will drive but takes foreverrrrr to pick up speed. i have not been driving it because i know it will only cause more problems. but im still not sure of what the problem is? im afraid it could be as bad as a broken block... then again the water pump? a hose? intake? gaskets? who knows??? opinions please??????

If it was a small amount of water it is not a big deal if you got Anti-freeze in the oil it is a major deal. If it was the milkshake looking oil then there is a very good chance the motor is done for. You should put a pressure tester on your coolant system. You can borrow them from Autozone if you leave a deposit. Pump it up and see where the leak is coming from.
Most likely
Water pump, Intake gasket, Plastic elbow above the water pump, heater hoses if its not one of those it could be anything. If you get lucky and it is a minor thing you should flush you coolant system out real good. My 96 was dealer service it whole life by the same owner. I still got two big handfuls of brown sludge out of the radiator.

Welcome and thank you for not just posting "My car is broken what do I do?". We have had a few like that in the last few days.

OK first off your leak is not uncommon and not usually as bad as you think. CHeck the intake to head seal, This is a common leak point, Also there are 2 little plastic 90° elbows that water passes through. One is from the water pump to the lower intake and the other is from water pump to heater hose manifold. You can get these from your local auto part store and they cost about $3.

What missfire code are you getting? The P0300 is random missfire and it is rarely caused by the ignition system. Fuel system is a common culprit here. Also the lack of power can easily come from low fuel pressure or a clogged cat.

oh and one more question, the air intake on these camaro's are bent to fit in their designated spots. That is the first mod i want to make for performance but my question is does the aftermarket cool air intake have to be bent like the stock one? or can i fit any air intake? and if so what would be my best bet reffering to brand and price?

When I was in, I was stationed on the USS Truman (my last command) and left the Navy as an E-5. Loved the Navy, busted my knee and had to leave.
