How and/where can I get a get a good tranny for my 97 V6 camaro? I've recently had work done on the tranny and it went back out, it's now being repaired. But im debating if I should trust his work

 

Auto trans? Talk to your local autopart stores that handle comercial accounts and ask them who is good in your area for trans repair. I would stay away from your local AAMCO, I have lived in 3 different states long enough and far enough apart to learn they are not what they make them selves out to be.

I always tell people to go to the local car shows and ask the people with cars there. Mosty areas have one or two good places. Any transmission place is only as good as the people that work there.

Even the best transmissin mechanic make mistakes or miss things. Cracked case can be very hard to detect. Any place can have a issue with a rebuild the question is how do they handle you when you bring the car back in. I have seen the best transmission guys have trannies apart 2-3 time before they get them right, its rare they do not get them right the first time but it happens.
